My top ten favourite television shows - all time

Well to start off with, this is a new blog, all based on my own personal likes and dislikes, of television programmes, down thru the years.

To begin with, I begin at the end, a weird start to be certain, but if anyone knows me, I am unconventional, to say the least.

So , without any further fanfare, I begin by listing my all time fave tv shows. Later on I will divulge my reasons for the order, and my reasons for ranking them.

Also , I will rank other top ten lists, of movies, sports franchises, favourite sports cards I've collected, favourite board games, favouite books and authors, favourite birds, and creatures, favourite trips I've gone on, etc.

But first my top ten TV shows, beginning at number 10.

#10 The Newsroom, starring Jeff Danials, as Wil McEvoy , a news anchor of Atlantis News Network prime time news slot, and also starring Emily Mortimer, as his TV producer, and Sam Waterson as the studio executive in charge of the news. Wriiten almost exclusively by Aaron Sorkin, during the Obama administration, leans a liitle pro Democatic but evenly weighs both sides.

#9 Batman, starring the late Adam West and Burt Ward as the caped crusaders, Batman and Robin, fighting crime in Gotham City. Guest villians include the Riddler, the Joker, the Penguin, and of coure Catwoman. Campy but fun for all ages.

#8 X Files, a  90's sci fi series about the search for extra terristrial existence amongst other things that go bump in the night.
#7 MASH, starring Alan Alda, a punch drunk surgeon serving in the Korean War, also starring MacLean Stevenson, Wayne Rogers, Gary Burgoff, and an assortment of other notables. A comedy but often a war drama ensues, to bring reality back into play.

# 6 Murdock Mysteries, starring Yannick Bisson, as a turn of the century CSI type of new age police officer, determined to uphold the law in Toronto, Station 4 also houses Thoamd Brakenreid played by Thomas Craig, as Johny Harris a Constable Crabtree.

#5 Family Ties, starring Back tonthe Future's Michael J. Fox as Alex P. Keaton, future Billionaire Republican wananbee, son to Micheal Gross and Meredith Baxter, and his sister played by Justine Bateman. Typical , yet anti culture family comedy based in the Reagan administartion.  Former hippy love children Gross and Baxter raise their family. Fox, a native BC born young tv star.

#4 Hill Street Blues, starring Daniel J. Travanti as beat captain of Hill Street station, a winner of 8 Emmys. Critically accaimed real gritty police drama, where officers were shown as real people. kudos to Mick Belker, played by Bruce Weitz, who routinely had to endure calls from his mother, during interrogations.

#3 St. Elsewhere, starring a multitude of stars, and future stars, Howie Mandel, Ed Flanders, Denzel Washington, David Morse, and Mark Harmon. A rundown, cash strapped hospital located in Boston serves as the backdrop metropolis.

# 2 Star Trek, starring William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy , as officers aboard the Starship Enterprise, it's 5 year mission, to seek out new civilizations, to bodly go where no man has gone before, or some such drivel. A Gene Roddenberry classic, a "Wagon Train to the Stars ".

#1 West Wing, s near perfect show, written primarily by Aaron Sorkin, during the Clinton years, a 7 year two term presidency starring Martin Sheen, and a cast for the ages. Best show ever, and I have watched all 7 seasons mulitiple times.
